Baptism Guide
Baptism is a sacrament that belongs to the church body as a whole: together we discern whether a profession of faith is credible, and welcome new believers into the church family. This guide is for parents and anyone beginning baptism conversations — to understand baptism, talk it through at home, and take the next step with the elders.
Beginning the conversation
Read through the baptism guide to understand baptism and discern whether a profession of faith reflects true repentance and faith (the guide’s appendix questions help dig deeper).
Listen as a family to the Sunday School lesson on baptism, and talk about what baptism means in Scripture.
Reach out to any elder to get the conversation rolling.
Find witnesses who can spend time listening to the profession of faith and asking questions.
Stay in touch with the elders to help decide whether to pause the conversation or keep moving toward baptism.
